How To Make Fruit Drinks Everyone Loves

Fruit: a simple pleasure. One of the greatest parts of exploring this world is making art out of the food and drinks we eat.

At De La Calle, we believe in community, and a great way to bring together your neighborhood, friends, and loved ones is with some crowd-pleasing beverages. There is a real beauty in gathering together and sharing a drink.

We, of course, are big fans of our refreshing, crisp tepache. However, there are so many other amazing drinks to try. When fruit is on the menu, it is sure to be a success.

These drinks range from boozy to non-alcoholic, so there’s something for everyone. Most importantly, whichever drink you decide to try out, share it with a friend. Everything tastes better in good company.

These five recipes will elevate your fruity drink game from just all right to out of sight. Thank you to our fruit champions, peaches, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, and oranges, for starring in these beverages.

Put on your bartender’s cap, and let’s get going! These fruit drinks are definitely great to kick back with on a summer’s day or perfect for adding a little fun into your daily routine.

Peach Bellini

This is a boozy start to our fresh fruit extravaganza. The peach bellini is a staple drink on many bar carts. This refreshing beverage is great for sitting out on the porch, winding down after a long day, or enjoying a sweet brunch.

One of the best things about bellinis is that they’re infused with the sweet flavors of ripe peaches, a pretty super ingredient on their own. Peaches carry vitamins and minerals that keep you firing on all cylinders. Peaches are a great source of fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium.

Plus, the signature sweetness of the peach lends itself well to any festive fruit drink.

How To Make a Peach Bellini

To make this peach bellini, you will need:

  • 2 ripe peaches
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 1 bottle of sparkling wine or champagne (chilled for best results)
  • Strawberry to garnish (optional)
  • Food processor or blender
  • Sieve

This recipe is super straightforward. First, pit and cut your peaches. Cubes tend to work best. Next, add the peaches, lemon juice, and teaspoon of sugar to your blender or food processor. Once combined, strain the mixture in a sieve to filter out the pieces of solid fruit.

Finally, add the peach juice mixture into two glasses.  Pour your sparkling wine or champagne over the mixture, garnish with a strawberry if you want to get a little extra fancy, and enjoy!

Tepache: A Fermented Pineapple Beverage

This next drink is near and dear to our hearts over at De La Calle. The second fruity drink everyone will love is, of course, tepache! Tepache is a fermented Mexican beverage made from the rinds of pineapple.

Traditionally, tepache was sold by street vendors in the bustling outdoor markets of Mexico, and it’s still well-loved today.

The sweet treat is also probiotic. This means you can enjoy a cold tepache while simultaneously doing your gut health a major solid.

Fermented foods can have many positive effects on your health. As a fermented beverage that does not compromise on taste, tepache is a win-win.

The beauty of tepache is that not only can you buy it premade from us, it is also simple enough to make on your own. If you are looking for a sustainable way to reuse your pineapple skins, look no further than tepache.

Something we really love about tepache is that it calls for food recycling! Mother Earth can use all of the help she can get right now, so sustainable practices are fantastic habits to get into.

How To Make Tepache

Here is what you will need to make a refreshing batch of tepache.

  • Rinds/peels of 1 pineapple
  • Glass pitcher or large container of water
  • 1 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Cheesecloth (optional)

This recipe is perfect for anyone interested in dipping a toe in the world of fermentation. First, obtain your pineapple peel. Rinse this well, as it will be directly interacting with your drink.

Place the peels in a glass jar or an otherwise large pitcher filled with water. Add your sugar, cloves, and cinnamon sticks to the brew. You can also experiment with flavors here. Feel free to add any spices you feel would pair well with the pineapple, and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. That’s how we came up with fantastic flavors like Picante Mango Chili and Moderno Orange Turmeric.

Mix to combine, cover loosely with a cheesecloth, and allow the tepache to sit for twenty-four hours. After the day is up, a white foam will likely have formed on top of the mixture.

Remove the foam, strain out your tepache using either a sieve, cheesecloth, or a colander.  Test out the flavors and add sugar, water, or other spices. Serve chilled and enjoy it with a friend.

If this recipe feels a little too involved, or you don’t have any spare pineapple rinds laying around, we’ve got you covered. You can sample different tepache flavors and get inspired for the next time you let out your inner brewmaster.

Banana Peanut Butter Blast

The banana is a tried and true fruit. This powerful snack is also packed with health benefits. Bananas are high in potassium and fiber, making them another great aid for your gut health.

For this fruity drink, we add a funky twist in the form of peanut butter. This drink is great to have for a breakfast smoothie or an after-dinner treat.

It is a super simple vegan recipe. You will need the following:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
  • ⅓ cup non-dairy milk
  • Chia seeds (optional)
  • Maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Blender

Add the frozen bananas, non-dairy milk, and peanut butter to the blender. If you are after a health boost, toss in some chia seeds. They thicken the smoothie and add nutrients too.

If you want a sweeter flavor, you can also toss in or top off the drink with honey or maple syrup. It is also best served with a dash of cinnamon on the top for both aesthetics and flavor.

Pour into a mason jar to get the whole down-home peanut buttery effect. Thank your bananas and sip happily.

Fruit For All

No matter which refreshing drink you choose to try, we can all agree that fruit is a fantastic beverage base. From pineapple, peaches, and bananas to everything in between, a fruity drink is sure to be a crowd-pleaser at your next gathering.

Branching out and trying new drinks is a great way to expand the flavors in your daily routine. We believe in shaking it up and trying new things, especially in the fresh fruit world.

Have fun with these fruit drinks, and don’t be afraid to get creative.
