What Does “De La Calle” Mean?
“From the Streets”
Some of the best things in culture don’t come from boardrooms or laboratories. They come from neighborhoods. From recipes passed hand to hand. From the sounds, smells, and flavors that live on street corners long before they ever make it into stores.
That’s where Tepache comes from.
And that’s where De La Calle gets its name.
In Spanish, De La Calle translates to “from the streets.” It’s a phrase that honors the roots of Tepache and the communities that have kept this tradition alive for generations across Mexico.
A Drink Born in the Street
Long before canned beverages and soda aisles, Tepache was served from pushcarts, mercados, roadside stands, and neighborhood carts throughout Mexico. Vendors made it fresh, often using pineapple rind, spices, and natural fermentation to create a refreshing, lightly fizzy drink that became part of everyday life.
There was never one official recipe.
No single way to make it.
No one definition of what Tepache had to be.
Every batch reflected the people and place behind it. Families added their own touch. Neighborhoods developed their own flavor traditions. Tepache evolved through community, creativity, and culture.
That spirit is what continues to inspire us today.
More Than a Name
De La Calle is more than a brand name. It’s a reminder of where we come from and what we believe in.
We believe great flavor should feel alive.
We believe culture should be celebrated, not diluted.
And we believe tradition can evolve while still respecting its roots.
Everything we create is inspired by the energy of the street — vibrant fruit flavors, bold visuals, music, art, movement, and the everyday moments that bring people together.
Tepache was never meant to feel exclusive. It was made to be shared.
Tradition, Reimagined
At De La Calle, we’ve taken the centuries-old tradition of Tepache and introduced it to a new generation through modern Mexican soda. While our recipes are inspired by traditional fermentation practices, we continue pushing flavor forward with fruit-forward combinations and contemporary takes on what a better-for-you soda can be.
It’s tradition with movement.
Culture with evolution.
A drink rooted in history while creating something entirely new.
Because honoring tradition doesn’t mean standing still.
From Mexico, Ready for the World
Tepache has existed in Mexican culture for centuries, but for many people outside of Mexico, De La Calle is their first introduction to the drink. That responsibility means everything to us.
We want to share Tepache in a way that feels approachable while still respecting the generations of culture behind it. Every can is an invitation to discover something new while recognizing the communities that made it possible in the first place.
Create New Traditions Together
De La Calle was built to bring people together through flavor, storytelling, and shared experiences.
So whether you discovered Tepache at a backyard hang, a family cookout, a concert, a corner store, or your local grocery aisle, you’re now part of the story too.
A toast to modern flavors.
A toast to tradition.
And a toast to creating new traditions together.
